FAQs

–––
So what exactly is this game about?

Silent Night was inspired as a companion piece to the much loved Wing And A Prayer LRP and has been created by Nora Black and Sarah Fitzgerald, who were part of the writing team for its third run. We wanted to take players on a darker and more supernatural journey, where the airwaves hold more than just pilot chatter and the characters have more time to face their own trauma and fears. It is a game about life, death, grief, letting go and finding ways to move on. Some of the key themes will be loss, transition and in-between times and spaces. It is a women-only scenario, allowing players and characters to explore their feelings in a sisterhood space and take on the terrors of the longest night together.

–––
Is it really only for women?

Yes. The game is specifically for women players and characters. We welcome all women and are committed to creating an inclusive, respectful space for everyone.

–––
Is this a sequel to Wing And A Prayer?

No. This event was inspired by our experiences at WAAP, but is certainly not a direct sequel or necessarily part of the same game world – although we do have the enthusiastic blessing of the original team! This event is set at a Y-station and players may be WAAFs, WRNS or civilian experts.

–––
When and where is it?

Silent Night will take place at Buckland House, Devon, UK and run from Friday 20 to Sunday 22 November 2026.

–––

What’s the accommodation?

Lovely bedrooms in Buckland House, with all bedding provided. You must stay on-site, the event is an immersive 24hr Time In experience that your character would not be able to leave. All accommodation will be IC in shared double or twin rooms. There are no single rooms, so you will be sharing with at least one other player.

–––
What's the food situation?

The event will be fully catered (Friday dinner, three meals on Saturday plus snacks, Sunday brunch and dinner). All meals will be IC which means rationing is in effect. Meals will be plain and simple to reflect this (but delicious and you won't go hungry!). Vegan and vegetarian options will be available. Should you gain a place, you will have a chance to make us aware of any additional dietary requirements before we decide on the final menu.

–––
Will I need a uniform?

Yes – but not to the same standards as those at the start of the war. You are working at a remote listening post in Scotland and regulations have slipped, so a certain amount of personalisation and comfort is encouraged, although we would still ask that you look recognisably a member of your service branch. Of course, your character might be a stickler for keeping up standards at all times!

–––
Can I crew instead of playing?

Sorry, we already have a crew in mind.

–––
Is the game 24-hour Time In? Can I opt out of that?

Yes, and we fully expect plot to happen throughout the night. You can choose to sleep through it, but if staying up late is not your cup of tea, this may not be the event for you.

–––
What time does it start and finish?

Players may arrive on site from 5pm Friday and the event will begin at around 7:30pm. We anticipate finishing around midnight on Saturday. Sunday is for debriefing, take-down and socialising. All participants must leave the site by 10am on Monday morning.

–––
How accessible is the game?

Sadly Buckland is not very accessible to those with limited mobility – it’s an old building with many steps both inside and out and has no ground floor bedrooms or adapted bathrooms. The story focuses heavily on audio and listening using headphones and may include reading and working by candelight. This is an intense emotional event that includes teamwork, emotional roleplay and uncovering a story through documents. Players will be the best judge of what is or is not accessible to them – so please do get in touch if you have any questions or would like to check the game’s suitability.

–––
Will there be combat and sanity loss like other horror LRPs?

Yes, but we anticipate it being an extremely combat light game. If combat happens at all it will be player-led, so no hordes of monsters to fight. We will be running something similar to a sanity loss system, and this will be a core part of the event.

–––
What age is the event appropriate for?

This game is aimed at players 18+. If you are a mature 17-year-old, speak to us before applying.

–––
How much will it cost?

Ticket are £325. A deposit of £100 will be payable when accepting a place, with the balance due on 20 October 2026). The event is not large enough for us to offer formal subsidised ticketing, but we are happy to take payment in instalments over the year.

–––
How many player spaces will there be, and how do I get one?

There will be around 15-20 player spaces and you will need to apply via this form. It will not be a first come, first served system - you will be asked to submit a character outline and an idea of what you are looking for from the game and we will put together a balanced player party. There will be a waiting list and (we hope) future runs.
