BRIEFING
It is December 1945. You are stationed at Y-Station KINLOCH, a remote signals intelligence outpost on the northern coast of Caithness, close to the Pentland Firth, with clear reception across the North Atlantic and Arctic regions. You have been here for approximately six weeks.

KINLOCH has been operational throughout the war, monitoring long-range wireless traffic and atmospheric conditions. Its location was selected for distance from population centres and minimal electrical interference.

Personnel at the station are aware they are retained for something unusual and hush-hush, but the formal nature and oversight of the project has not been disclosed to you. Your duties remain classified and your orders come only through the senior station officers.
Following the end of hostilities in Europe, the station has been scheduled for permanent closure.

KINLOCH is due to shut down completely in three days’ time.
Access to the station is limited. The nearest village lies several miles away. Transport is infrequent and subject to weather and tide. Winter conditions may delay arrivals or departures without notice.

Communications with London and other departments remain active but are not prioritised. Delays should be expected. Some staff have already been reassigned, demobilised, or released from duty.

A reduced complement of approximately sixteen personnel remains on station to complete the final operational period. You are among those retained due to role, availability, or specialist knowledge.

Remaining staff include: WRNS, WAAFs and a few civilian specialists.

All standard procedures remain in force until closure.

Your duties include:
-
Maintaining listening and monitoring shifts
-
Completing and archiving logs
-
Assisting with the packing and preparation of equipment for shutdown
-
Maintaining station routines until relieved
Further instructions will be issued if required.

Ladies - you should know how this place works by now!

Shifts continue as normal. Logs are to be kept properly, even if no one reads them. Equipment that’s already been packed should be left packed unless you’re told otherwise.

Extra supplies are in the cellar. Coal rationing still applies!!

Remember, you’re not the only one who’s tired and ready to leave. If you feel restless, distracted, or out of sorts, keep it to yourself unless it affects your work.

If London wants something, they’ll ask. If they don’t, carry on.

Given the weather conditions, there is no fixed timetable for departures.

Dig deep – it’s just a few more days.

THEMES & CONTENT
Silent Night is a bleak, atmospheric post-war experience exploring grief, haunting, and recovery after trauma from a female perspective. Set in the aftermath of the Second World War, it focuses on what lingers when conflict is officially over.

Players can expect psychological tension created through secrets, isolation, and uncertainty, alongside supernatural elements. Play involves following orders without full understanding, within a military chain of command, and centres on listening, interpretation, and shared storytelling. The event is not a full task-LRP, but some tasks and duties will be required.

While often unsettling, Silent Night is designed to move toward catharsis and emotional release.

The game explores themes of mental strain, disorientation, and encounters with phenomena beyond the ordinary, set against a post-war world still shadowed by the remnants of conflict, including the influence of Nazi activity. Silent Night does not include sexual violence, graphic horror, or LRP combat. However, characters may experience psychological injury, isolation, or death, depending on choices and circumstances within the story.

Is this game for you?

This game may suit you if you enjoy quiet, psychological unease, emotionally serious themes, and supernatural elements. It involves playing within structure and hierarchy while still shaping the story through your choices.

It may not be for you if you are looking for light-hearted play, constant clarity, or heavily action-driven scenarios.

This is a 24-hour immersive experience. While there will be opportunities to rest, the event involves long hours of engagement, and may include periods of interrupted sleep. We do not recommend this game for participants for whom staying awake or coping with irregular sleep could be a concern.

APPLICATION PROCESS
To be considered for a place on Silent Night, players must submit a complete character application at the link below by 31 January 2026.

Applications will be reviewed to assemble a balanced and complementary group of participants. Places are limited and will not be allocated on a first‑come basis; selection is based on character balance and suitability for the story. We will maintain a waiting list.

If selected, you will then meet with a member of the writing team to refine and deepen your character so it integrates seamlessly with the shared history of the station.

In the months leading up to the event, some participation in pre-game activity is essential. You will receive regular emails providing updates on what has been happening at KINLOCH and asking for your character’s responses to build a shared backstory of the six weeks they have been stationed there. These activities will establish character relationships, routines, shared history and gossip, all of which are central for immersion.
